Australian Brendan Roberts finally took to the top step of the podium for Buildbase Ducati at round nine of the Metzeler National Superstock Championship at Cadwell Park this weekend. The talented youngster looked totally dominant throughout the 14-lap race and the weekend, which saw him take pole position, the lap record and the race win, a tidy hat-trick for Roberts and the team.

Roberts who is also competing in the FIM 1000 Superstock Cup with the Ducati Xerox Junior Team gave the UK based Buildbase Ducati team something to smile about when he took their first race win this season. This was his first triumph in dry conditions after suffering serious damage to his right wrist at the beginning of the season and is a good sign that the injury is healing.

Roberts was on stunning form throughout the weekend on the Ducati 1098 and set impressive lap record breaking times throughout the qualifying sessions and broke his own personal lap record, which he set last year on a Kawasaki. Sat at the top of the qualifying sheets in both sessions he was eager to take a race victory, as he last win in the British Championship was back in August last year at Croft Circuit.

 A delighted Roberts commented “It’s been a great weekend and I’m really pleased to be back on the top of the podium in the British series. It’s my first win in the dry since I did my wrist and a confidence builder for myself and hopefully proves that my it’s healing and I’m finally on the mend. It’s been a long process and it’s been great for everyone. J Lav was second so the team couldn’t ask much more, everyone at Buildbase worked so hard and the team provided me with a great package and I was able to return the favour with achieving their first win this season. I go to Germany the week after next and hopefully I can get some strong results there before coming back to Donington for a double barrelled round.”

His next race is at Lausitz on the 7th – 9th September.
