The Buildbase Ducati boys, Brendan Roberts and John Laverty, dominated proceedings over the bank holiday weekend at Cadwell Park and rewarded the Team and its Sponsors with a magnificent 1st and 2nd place in yesterday’s sun-blessed National Superstock Championship race.

After the disappointment of being on the front row at Croft and a potential double podium result being thwarted by the weather in the race, Roberts and Laverty repeated their incredible performances and put their Ducati 1098s on the front row of the grid again after an intense qualifying session on Sunday afternoon. With both riders qualifying well under the Superstock lap record and the first five rows of the grid being split by just two seconds, the race was guaranteed to be run at a blistering pace.

With Roberts P1, Kirkham P2, Laverty P3 and Richards P4 the stage was set as the lights went out at 14:05 on Monday afternoon. Laverty got a fantastic start and took the hole-shot into turn one with Richards, Kirkham and Roberts in hot pursuit. Richards dived under Laverty going in to Park on lap one so, as they crossed the line for the first time, it was Richards, Laverty, Roberts and Kirkham with fourteen frantic laps and 30 miles to go. On lap three, Roberts passed his team mate and out-braked Richards going in to Mansfield to take the lead and just one lap later, Laverty repaid the championship leader’s earlier manoeuvre with a daring undertake at the end of Park straight to slip in to second place behind Roberts.

The Buildbase Ducati 1098s dominated the remainder of the race and rewarded the sponsors and crew with the Team’s first ever 1-2. So with Brendan Roberts smashing the lap record by 0.458 of a second and John Laverty moving up to 3rd in the Championship table, the Team understandably drove home in a buoyant mood and is now looking forward to the penultimate round of the Championship at Donington Park in a few weeks time.
